Ok, I know the title of our blog is a little sappy, but we are the Hollidays and we are very happy, so it was fitting! Just ignore the mushy title and enjoy the blog!
I decided that I’d save myself from telling people over and over how I feel, how far along I am, when my due date is, etc. and start a pregnancy blog. Now that I am almost 24 weeks along (A week from today) I thought it would be a great time to start…better late than never! We don't want anyone to be left out, so this is our way of letting everyone in on the fun little journey we're on. He is due to arrive July 17th, but I am hoping to be induced earlier, like I was with my other two pregnancies. I know from experience that every pregnancy is different, so this third pregnancy has already brought us new discoveries and adventures and I am sure there are more to come!
Since I am starting this blog a little late, I will do a quick recap of the last year...
Sam and I have known each other for almost 10 years and last summer we were fortunate enough to reconnect and we quickly fell in love. Five days after we were married we learned that we were pregnant. We were surprised, but very excited!
I immediately began experiencing all the typical pregnancy symptoms and some not so typical. I had bleeding and severe cramping, which led to weekly doctor visits. Finally after following the doctor's instructions and taking it easy the bleeding stopped and I was able to start seeing her once a month. I still feel awful most of the time, but I keep telling myself it is worth it!
We all had been hoping for a girl. In fact we came up with a name for a girl, a nursery design, no one was allowed to even mention the word "boy", but at 18 weeks we had a 3D/4D ultrasound and we learned we were in deed having another boy...a fourth boy! I cried for two days, because I just knew it was going to be a girl. We already had three boys, Devyn 13, Connor 8 and Mason, 4. There was no way that we would have another boy! After crying for two days and feeling like a terrible mother for crying, I came to terms with the fact that I will be the only girl in the house (even our cat and dog are male) and we started registering for boy stuff and looking for a name for him. After weeks of calling the baby "it" and the boys still referring to him as "Sophie", we finally came up with his name...Benton Pierce Holliday! Benton is my mom's maiden name, so I knew I wanted to use it at least as his middle name, but Benton Pierce just sounds so great...some have said it sounds like a movie star!
We are now registered for everything we will need. Benton's room is cleared out an ready to decorate. Luckily the walls are already painted the correct colors. We haven't bought one thing yet, but my sister-in-law and mom have already been clothes shopping for him! We are registered for all our prenatal classes, Lamaze, infant CPR, etc. and we even have Benton's big brothers registered in a sibling class and babysitter training class.
I think that pretty much covers everything. From here on, I will update weekly (maybe more) on the pregnancy and other family thing. These ramblings can be found under the "Posts" tab at the top of the page. I am by no means a professional blogger, so don't expect grandiose posts or any prophetic writings, but I would love to here from you, so leave a comment!
